tonight at dusk, as another thunderstorm was about to blow in from the west, I watched about fifty wood frogs hop onto my wet wood porch at the same time from all directions. The frogs congregated by my door in a relatively tight group. It was odd and beautiful and curious and just plain cool. Aurora was going bugshit trying to get out of the door and at them. That was also very curious as she's never reacted to frogs that way before. But fifty of them...I guess that's considered a buffet in catworld.

I might just be buying my first portable MP3 player soon... I have tended to resist the technological revolution (at least while the cost of participating in it is so damn high). However, I can't avoid becoming an iPod person (sci-fi pun intended) any longer... After a weekend bender on iTunes I have to get the trendy device...it's time to be assimiliated. But why the color white??? Apple's white iPods are a bit heady on the THX 1138 with a bold aftertaste of Moloko Plus... I found the color, volez-moi blanc ("steal me white"), irritatingly loud and bovine-like... I'm surprised that the damned things don't produce an electronic beacon of some sorts that only the purchaser's brain can receive and decipher...

"a playa's gotta pimp out his player!"...just watch, that'll be a million dollar catch phrase for some advertising campaign trying to sell mp3 player accessories...pointless accessories...spinning hubcap screensavers and neon carrying cases...it'll happen. It'll be the fourth horseman of the apocalypse throwing the seventh sign at your feet, lovingly slid into a trendy neon tube-lined vinyl carrying case, shining like hot pink electronic sex and spewing forth the latest mp3 from some gawdawful racket that the suits in muzakland are lacing our collective koolaid with.

DID I JUST PHOTOGRAPH A UFO OVER JACKSON COUNTY, MICHIGAN???

(UPDATE 24 JUNE)...My photographs and details of the events surrounding the photograph above have been forwarded to both MUFON and The National UFO Reporting Center. I guess this will put me on the Christmas mailing list of interested, clandestine agencies and individuals keeping tabs on those who are experiencing that which is officially denied, discounted and ridiculed. I'm on the record concerning this event which will probably precipitate a nocturnal visit by Alex Trebek and Jessie Ventura, dressed fully in black and driving a slick black cadillac.

image taken on the Summer Solstice, approximately 8:35pm EST...the object photographed was preceded by several military helicopters circling my neck of the swamp as well as a flyover by a strange disclike object...strange days indeed. The image above is a cropped closeup of a much larger image taken with a SONY DSC-H5 Cybershot with a 12x optical zoom and a 2x telephoto lens attached. The camera was zoomed to 5x optical when the image was shot. I did not visually see the object. The image was taken following the flyover of the odd disc shaped object and the departure of the military helicopters...

While we're on this subject...I suggest visiting Linda Moulton Howe's Earthfiles website at www.earthfiles.com to catch up on the sudden influx of weird 'alien drone' photographs...primarily from the National and State Forests and Parks of California. This is an odd story that is worthy of pursuing...there may be a new unmanned military weapon with exotic propulsion and maneuverability that mimicks or utilizes the technologies of the UFO phenomenon.

I'll have to relate earlier run-ins with black helicopters in a future post. A dramatic one occurred on golf course in Mount Pleasant, MI in late September or early October of 1990. (If that doesn't get Agent Smith's attention...I don't know what will...)
